Dear members,

September is surely a super busy month for all and we’ve started feeling the impact already with not being able to keep up with all the various events happening in the bay area (and Sacramento!). But our committed CCC families made time and got together to listen to our September performers and our sincere thanks to them all!

We had nine solo performances, 8 on the vocals and one violin solo. Aditya Bashyam and Aditi Anand made their debut performance in CCC with their divine, virgin music. Rest of our performers, Alaap, Arya, Aditi, Thejeswini, Aditya Satyadeep, Sanika and Abinaya showcased significant annual progress in their music journey, giving us a variety treat, with each choosing a unique raga to share.

Even though the accompanists learn and grow with each of the opportunities, the amount of effort each of our accompanists and their parents put in towards the success of our performances is incredible. They help the students get together for one or more rehearsals, help them learn the content to be more effective, plan out their coordinated outfits (love this part always!), and cheer each other up before, during and after the performance. This brings in the true team spirit which reflects directly in the performances. Kudos to our accompanists and their parents!

I am so glad we managed time in the schedule to host the feature a guru segment again this month. Vid. Sri Arvind Lakshmikanthan presented to our audience, in an encapsulated form, how to go about ‘practice’ and his valuable tips would apply not only to excel in music but also in other activities as well. Our sincere thanks to him for the efforts and time he spent, for the benefit of our CCC members. Smt Vasudha Ravi who is visiting the bay area paid CCC a surprise visit, listened to all the performers and had kind words to share, our thanks to her too.

Our September schedule was so tight that I did not even get to utter a thank you to our dear volunteers who help, on and off the stage, pre and post event! I know they are not expecting that but it is my duty to acknowledge and thank them for all their help and support! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Our Asthana photographer Prasanna was back this month to cover the event and here are his lovely captures. Anand G and Vidya have recorded, edited and provided us this excerpt clip to reminisce the event and I’m sure this will be a treasure to watch if you could not make it in person. Many thanks to Sowmya (Arya’s mom) for bringing coffee /snacks and Shreeranjani (Aditi’s mom) for bringing some finger food for our volunteers.

Please save Saturday October 7th from 4-7pm for our next event!

Best Regards,

Padma Mohan

Dear members,

It was such a gratifying event Sunday at our August CCC event as our members filled the divine mandir hall in support of our performers, thanks to each of you who made it.  It was so nice to see some member families return from their trips/vacations to get the local updates from co-members at CCC, which is an additional benefit to attending the CCC events J

We had TEN solo performances, largest in any CCC event history, with 9 vocals and one veena. We introduced three new voices, that of Sumanth, Deetshana and Smriti, which were all honey to our ears! Repeat performers Priyanka (Kalyani), Adithya (Panthuvarali), Twisha (Hindolam), Shashank(Lalitha), Ananya(Todi) and Shrikrishna(RTP) did a spectacular job and their musical progress was unmistakable. We were thrilled to host Hrishikesh after a long gap on the veena for accompaniment, and introduced budding vainika Vishrant, Keyboardist Sanika and mrudangist Srihari, who will join our pool this month as accompanists. Rest of our budding accompanists gave their best accompanying to the aksharam, in addition to coordinated costumes (which make the pictures look adorable as a team). Congratulations to every single one of our August performers!

Our sincere thanks to Namdev Nayak (aka Nami) for giving our children the best ever audio experience even though he gets requests and SOS calls from other events for audio setup. Thanks to Anand Gurumurthy, Balaji Ramaswamy, Srivatsan Kannan and Murali Swaminathan for their help with stage/audio setup. To give a break to our regular photographers, I requested another member parent Ram Athreya to cover the event and he did a fantastic job with a quick turn-around in delivering the high resolution images, I am sure you are all going to love the pictures collection from our August event. Srikanth, Uma and Bhooma took care of the power point slides while Latha and Sadhana held the fort at the back with attendance. Anand worked hard the past couple of days to give you all a glimpse of the event in this short video clip and my sincere thanks to him for doing this extremely laborious editing task (3 hour long content in about 11 mins) for your viewing pleasure. Many thanks to our behind-the-scene-volunteers Radha (FB posts), Vaidy (Budding artist section on website) and Anandhi (home page update on website) for their help every month as well.

Please save Saturday September 9th from 4-7pm for our next event! Last, but not the least, Mohan and I would sincerely like to thank the teachers and the parents for the special ‘surprise’ segment with affectionate wedding anniversary wishes!

Best Regards,

Padma Mohan

Dear members,

Let us start off with PRANAAMS to all the GURUs who is an embodiment of knowledge, whether it is at the spiritual level, arts or academics! And a big thanks to all our members who made an effort to attend our July event Sunday, and special hugs to all the grandmas and grandpas who sat through the performances with a big smile.

We had nine solo performances, 8 on the vocals and one veena solo. We introduced FIVE new voices, largest in CCC history in any given month, and each of our new vocalists, Yuvanand, Deeksha, Shriya, Vishnu and Rhea exhibited their talents eagerly to our friendly audience! Our hearty welcome to budding violinist Vishaka and mrudangist Arush who joined our pool this month as accompanists. Congratulations to each of our repeat performers for their beautiful renditions, Varnika (Poorvikalyani), Shivani (Charukesi), Pramati (Bhairavi) and Abirami (Saraswathi).  Our accompanists, however young they are, put together a grand show month after month with a lot of practice and the growth cannot be missed, kudos to each of our 17 accompanists who brightened up the show with their support. Sashwat is back from his India trip now and will be sending his detailed notes on all the performances as soon as he is over his jet-lag as I know those who missed the event are waiting to read it to get up-to-date!

Kudos to all the performers and their accompanists for keeping very much within their assigned duration, and this helped us include an interesting and helpful session featuring three gurus, in an extended feature-a-guru segment. Vidwans Sri Srikanth Chary, Sri Shivkumar Bhat and Sri Natarajan Srinivasan shared with us how learning Carnatic music has evolved over the years and how the music teachers are different than teachers at academic institutions, and also, how parents try to imbibe our Indian culture in children by way of getting them into music classes. We sincerely thank the three teachers for giving us their valuable time and pointers from their perspective in addition to inviting students to share their viewpoints too. Congrats to students Kavya, Gaurav and Akshay for reflecting the student perspectives well, on the questions asked of them.

Our sincere thanks to super enthu audio team volunteers (MSK Balaji, Hari Kodungallur, and Ravindhran who pitched in yesterday) led by Namdev, Barath for the memorable pictures, Uma/Bhooma for the powerpoint slides, Anand G for the video recording to provide an excerpts clip for us to reminisce some moments from the event, and Latha and Sadhana for the membership log work. Big thanks to our parents Meenakshi Seshan, Arthi Narayanan, Nithya Ashok, Sujatha Ram, Sunita VK, for bringing some snacks and tea for our hard working volunteers.

Please save Sunday August 20th from 2pm to 5pm for our next event! Wishing you a wonderful rest of summer holidays!

Regards,

Padma Mohan

Dear members,

I’d like to start off noting the blessings from God for giving CCC such sincere and unselfish (just like Warriors, the Champions!) volunteers! Almost all LEADs were going to be missing the event and you can imagine the tension build-up when I heard those updates come in one after the other during the last week! But each of them did everything possible to help out from behind in order for us to have a smooth event in their absence and I can't thank them enough! Love you all!

Heartfelt thanks to Jayaraman Venkatramani (who stepped in place of Nami), Ram Athreya (who stepped in place of Prasanna/Barath), Bhooma Srinivasan (who helped in place of Srikanth/Uma), Avinash/Vidya (who covered for Anand G), Veena/Sadhana who are my regular volunteers also covered Latha this month. There are a number of parents who help out silently whenever they can, with whatever they are able to, and our sincere thanks to them as well. Special shout out to Nami who came to help setup everything for us before he had to start on his other commitment, CCC owes you big time Nami!

Do you wonder why so many people help out so willingly? It is ALL BECAUSE OF our talented kids and the effort they put in towards their CCC performances. Everything feels so worth it as each of our performers charmed the audience in their own way and made dads proud ahead of Father’s Day! We introduced Vaishnavi and Mahathi on the vocals and Vandana on the violin and the rest of the performers made obvious their musical progress since last time. Five young writers who responded to my email (within hours) will sum up the various performances in a more detailed summary so please stand by for that and congratulations to all of our June performers for a delightful show!

Feature a guru segment Vid. Sri Hari Devanath shared very efficiently some important concepts/terminology and certainly kindled the interest in students (and parents) to look out for saahithyams and syllables in compositions. Learning to appreciate music is the very first step in the journey to learn music and Hari made it obvious why his students love music. It was incredible to see the time management with which he did his presentation and I can see how his students follow that to the second in every single of their CCC performances. Kudos and a big thank you to Hari for his support to CCC!

Here are the pictures from yesterday’s event, Thank you Ram for the super fast upload and lovely captures.

A very happy Father’s Day to all our hard working Dads. Please save Sunday July 16th from 2pm to 5pm for our next event!

Regards,

Padma Mohan

Dear members,

It was indeed a very fulfilling event yesterday! A heartfelt thanks to those who took the time to attend and celebrate Mother’s Day with us! We introduced brilliant performances by Kriti and Prisha on the vocals, Alaap on the violin and Akshay Suresh on the Mrudangam. It felt extremely good to watch our repeat performers do so much better than last time, overcoming the shortfalls from before and/or showcasing a much improved musical progress. Kudos to Ambika, Rahul, Shivani, Shruthi, Vishaka, Sumedh and Shrikanth on the vocals, Srishiva, Apurvaa, Aishwarya, Ananya, Prahlad, Omsri, Aditya and Aparna on string accompaniment, Sachin, Shreyas, Avinash, Vishal, Santhosh, Vivek, Pranav, and Srivatsan on the Mrudangam. Thanks to all the teachers who trained the students for their performance at CCC and for their thoughtful selection of compositions on the Divine Mother to present at our Mother's Day event! Special thanks to the teachers who make it a point to attend the events in person which serves as a great moral support and encouragement for our children.

Feature a Guru segment Vidwan Sri Ravindrabharathy Sridharan brought to stage thoughtful questions on music journey and how to inspire children for them to gain a deeper appreciation for music. Remember the Iceberg!!! The timing of this presentation is so appropriate that our children can use the summer break to reflect upon Sravanam and Sadhagam along with reading biographies of stalwarts! Thank you Ravi for all your efforts to do this presentation and for your enthusiastic support to CCC always!

We had Prasanna back on camera after a long while and his captures are here already! Thanks for the awesome clicks Prasanna!

Our sincere thanks to all our core volunteers for helping with back end jobs before, during and after our events. Thanks to the parents who helped out yesterday at the event during setup / cleanup and special thanks go to Ramya Bala, Meena Jagan, Vidya Murali, Nithya Ashok, & Veena Suresh for their kind gesture to provide our volunteers hot tea and delicious snacks. They were truly appreciated by our hard working men & women!

Dear members,

Thank you so much to those who attended our March CCC event yesterday. It was extremely gratifying to see our children perform so well and those who heard the children will definitely attest to that. We introduced Kaashyap and Yazhini on the vocals, Prahlad on the violin and Rajeev on the Mrudangam and it was obvious that youngsters of today are so talented. Rest of the repeat performers showcased such an improved rendering making obvious their progress in music over the year, may it be vocals or string or mrudangam. It is incredible how the children are juggling so many activities these days, excelling in all. Congratulations to each of them!

Vid. Vivek Sundararaman’s presentation as part of Feature a Guru segment kept the audience engaged and got them thinking too! In his own charming and humorous way, Vivek explained with examples how to listen effectively to concerts and how one can become a better musician and a rasika from 'kelvi gnanam'. The topic was so relevant to every single person in the audience, and we immensely thank Vivek for choosing this topic to share!

Huge thanks to Barath for covering the event and sending the pictures immediately post event. We commend and thank Anand Gurumurthy for being extremely thoughtful of as aspects while creating the video excerpts clip in a timely manner, for (y)our enjoyment. Our sincere thanks to our core team and the event day volunteers for their help in ensuring a smooth event.

Best wishes to all the CCC students who will be participating in the Cleveland festival/competitions. Hope you all have a fruitful experience. We will be skipping April so please save Sunday May 14th (Mothers’ Day) from 2pm to 5pm for our next event!

Dear members,
Happy Valentines day to all of you and hope the love for music will keep us united for a long time to come :-)

This is the first email going out to our new Google Group and both email ids you registered with us should receive this bulletin! Please let me know otherwise.

Our sincere thanks to every single family who made it to our February CCC event yesterday. We had such a variety program with 5 vocal solos, 2 violin solos and a veena solo, each one presenting a unique raga/composition for our encouraging audience. We introduced Manasa on the vocals and Aishwarya on the violin and the rest of the performers staged a very mature performance since their presentation last year. Each was unique in its own way and I can’t be prouder of the performers and accompanists we staged this month! Our students (and their teachers) always strive hard to make us all very proud and the efforts so worth it.

Dr Saravanapriyan Sriram’s presentation as part of Feature a Guru segment was simply amazing! He very effectively managed to illustrate a very interesting and very useful topic ‘How to approach a Raga?’ Our sincere thanks to him for taking the time to prepare and present this key topic to our members and with his permission I’ll share the slides he presented as well, shortly.

Thanks to Srivatsan for covering the event and sending the pictures immediately post event. I had requested him to cover the event until Prasanna arrived but he ended up covering the entire event, giving Prasanna a break (especially with Vivrd in the February line-up). We are grateful to Anand for being extremely diligent in preparing the video excerpts that captures the essence of our event, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this video clip.

Our volunteers prove that CCC is one big family and help out like it is their own family event so on behalf of all the children who perform in CCC, I’d like to send a heartfelt thanks to all our core volunteers and the parents who help out. We’ll definitely treat you all with a good chai next month :-)

Dear all,

Happy New Year to all of you and your families! OUR child CCC is now EIGHT years old and thanks for nurturing it well all these years with your enthusiastic support. Sincere thanks to each one of you who attended our anniversary event to celebrate it Sunday! In spite of the storm warnings, we had the most number of people attend the event and it surely shows how much each family value their CCC membership J and make time for our performing children! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

We introduced two new vocalists, Samhitha and Siddharth, two new violinists, Urmika and Apurvaa, and one new mrudangist, Sachin. Rest of the performers showcased an improved rendering since their last CCC performance! I honestly felt every single performer and accompanist did a fantastic job and with God’s grace, we are off to a great start in 2017! One of our CCC students has offered to write a detailed review of the performances (he took notes at the event :) so please stand by for that as well!

Smt Kasthuri Shivakumar, our featured guru yesterday, shared so many important pointers on the topic of ‘recordings’, which has become an integral part of music learning for every music learner, young or old. Pros and Cons of using the recorders to learn, tips to overcome the cons were so valuable to our learners, and our sincere thanks to Smt Kasthuri for taking the time to do a great presentation.

Sincere thanks to our volunteers Latha, Veena and Sadhana for helping me with attendance each month and special thanks to Latha for making it to the event inspite of the severe jetlag. I rely on their work so much, given our growth and number of requests I receive so please remember to record your presence with them when you attend. And, please don’t be a member who come there to just ‘give’ attendance, as listening to live concerts by peers is good for your own child’s growth (please refer to Sri Gopi’s feature a guru presentation from last month). Audio/stage team led by Namdev Nayak was almost in full strength yesterday, thank you team! Big thanks to Srikanth Mahalingam and Uma Sriram, our Powerpoint volunteers, for helping with the presentation every month and for accommodating my last minute changes to slides J you guys are awesome. Barath covered the photography in Prasanna’s absence yesterday, thank you Barath for always being there when we need you and for capturing the memories with a smile. Anand has taken over the video excerpts task from Prasanna now, thank you Anand for shouldering additional responsibilities this year and producing this awesome excerpts clip immediately post event. We also wish to thank our other core team volunteers, Radha & Vaidy for their help with maintaining our FB page and budding artists section. Srivatsan came aboard this year and has been a great resource for us already and we look forward to working with other new volunteers who’ve signed up to help out in the future.

Please save Sunday February 12th from 2pm to 5pm for our next event!

Padma Mohan

Dear members,

Hope you are all gearing up for the holidays ahead! Our best wishes to the students who have their finals this week!

Our last event of the year was such a memorable one as we got to introduce so many new talents! Nandhan, Arya, Sahiti, Sudiksha all presented their debut vocal performance in CCC in their own adorable way. Gowri’s violin solo was neat and Rajita, Prahlad, Gayathri and Archita all rendered with so much more confidence than last year, making it so grand. Thanks to guru Srikanth Chary, we got to introduce three vainikas on accompaniment (Vivrd, Kavya and Preetika) and all of them did full justice to their debut assignments. Srishiva came aboard the accompanying pool on the violin with his first accompaniment this month and Aparna, Aditya, and Vittal provided fantastic melodic support as always, to our singers. Umesh jumped on the accompaniment bandwagon with so much confidence in his intro performance on the Mrudangam and Shrikanth, Shreyas, Rahul, Vishal, Ananth, Sriram, Pranav and Avinash all did so well for their respective performers.

Vidwan Sri Gopi Lakshminarayanan’s feature a guru segment on “Why Lyve?” was so interesting, all our youngsters were enthusiastically participating, thus extending the segment a bit longer than planned. It was so valuable and engaging and there could not have been a better month to present this; our heartfelt thanks to Gopi for creatively presenting this wonderful topic!

Many thanks to all our volunteers who helped with various event day logistics which resulted in a smooth event. Thanks to Sowmya and Gomathy for bringing coffee/chai for our volunteers. Big thanks to Prasanna for capturing the PICTUREs and VIDEO EXCERPTs !

Heartfelt thanks to all of you for creating this nice eco system under CCC roof for our children! Hope to have your continued support in 2017!

Our Best wishes to all our students who are heading to Chennai for the music season!

Please save Sunday January 8th from 2pm to 5pm for our Eighth Anniversary event!

Dear members,

Our children pulled through yet another fantastic event last weekend and thanks to all the members who made an effort to attend. We got to introduce Aishwarya and Neha’s great singing to our encouraging audience and witnessed improved renditions from Preetha, Twisha, Shashvath, Srishiva, Arundhati and Kaushik.

Vidwan Sri Srikanth Chary who was our featured Guru shared so many valuable pointers with our audience regarding accompanying tips and our heartfelt thanks to him for sharing such practical, easy to follow and needed advice with our budding performers (and parents).

Our string line up consisting of Aditya, Aparna, Gowri, Hiranya, Sahana, Saranya, Srivas and percussion line up comprised of Akshay A, Akshay V, Avinash, Rahul, Santhosh, Shrikanth, Shrikrishna and Sriram worked so hard to give us a quality show and like Sri Srikanth Chary highlighted, it is a TEAM effort of the performers and the accompanists that makes any performance great. I’ll even go one step further to say that this TEAM also includes the Gurus and the parents so kudos to them too.

Shivkumar ji concluded the SSS session for this year with yet another segment and we are so grateful to him for spending his time and efforts educating our children with meanings of various compositions and other valuable tips.

Namdev, our audio guard/God, did yet another purchase of a cool microphone so the string accompanists are heard better, our BIG thanks to him for always going the extra mile for our children! Many thanks to our audio team volunteers, esp. Balaji, Sam, Ramchandran and Hari for helping with setup and cleanup. Latha runs the membership/attendance units like a queen and Srikanth/Uma work seamlessly with the powerpoint presentation to show each month and our sincere thanks to them and all the other volunteers who work behind the scenes.

Big thanks to Prasanna for capturing the memories! His pictures and video excerpts are such a treasure to look for, and he does it like he makes tea at home, without complaining J ever! Talking about tea, thanks to Vidya Jai and Anandhi M. for bringing chai for our volunteers.
