Dear members,

With so many children interested in performing in CCC, we had a packed schedule with 9 performers in our August CCC line up and thanks to all who attended and encouraged the children. We introduced one new vocalist, SB Priyanka, one new vainika, Gohitha and repeat performers Pramati, Niyati, Shreya, Aditya, Shashank, Akshay V. and Aishwarya did such a fine job in showcasing their musical growth in their own charming way! Our string line up consisting of violinists Gowri, Vittal, Sahana, Aparna and Malini supported our vocalists very nicely. We’ve always had a strong percussion representation in each event and this was no different. Our mrudangists Vivek, Vishal, Avinash, Rahul, Shreyas, Pranav, Akshay A., Srivatsan, and Ajay enhanced the presentations with their able laya support. Kudos to all these talented children for working so hard to present their best to us!

The Feature-A-Guru segment presented by Vidwan Dr Shivkumar Bhat gave the performers, especially vocalists a deep insight to sruthi (type of sruthis, how to identify own sruthi, voice break stage for boys etc) which is the most critical part of singing. The Sangeeta Saaram Series (SSS) session he taught was such an informative and delightful session for those who stayed back at the end, as he walked through ‘Sri Saraswati Namosthuthe’, a Dikshidhar composition word by word explaining the meaning. Thank you Shivkumar ji for agreeing to be our featured Guru and also for doing the SSS segment!

THANKS to all our core volunteers and the performers parents for helping out before, during and after the event. I am sure you’ll all enjoy the pictures from the event, (courtesy of Barath, Pramati’s dad) and the video excerpts (courtesy of Mohan), many thanks to both who stepped in to help, due to Prasanna’s absence.

Please save Sunday Sep 11th from 1pm to 4pm for our next event!

Regards,

Padma Mohan
