Namaskaram all,
The final CCC of our 15th year in the books. This time was interesting, as Padma Aunty was an ocean and several time zones away.
But the volunteers kept the ship on course! Thank you again to all of the volunteers who kept the event running like clockwork.
We had performers who ran the gamut, from wonderful introductory performances by Upasana and Mohana, to a very impressive triragam pallavi presentation by high school senior Prahlad Saravanapriyan of his own composition! Sri Vidya’s violin performance was very creditable with a crisp rendition of sarojadalanetri. Karthik, the youngest performer of the day, chose a popular tamizh song, devi neeye tunai. Shreya’s govinda ghaTaya was power packed in ragam Bhairavi. Anirudh Ramakrishnan, who is also a senior, performed a bright pallavi, demonstrating his understanding of the nuances of many ragams. Abirami, chose Hindolam and did full justice to the song. Anirudh Suresh’s janani ninuvina was soothing to the ears. What a way to end this year of CCCs.
Thank you to the resident gurus who made the time for our event: Sri. Gopi Lakshminarayan, Smt. Kasturi Sivakumar, Sri. Srinath Bala, Sri. Natarajan Srinivasan, Sri. Saravanapriyan Sriraman, Smt. Snigdha Venkatramani. Thank you also to all gurus who helped train their students for this month’s performance.
Vardhinee and I had a wonderful time emceeing for you. We had some Andal/Thirupavai related quiz questions for you, and were impressed when even the kids chimed in gamely with answers. Thank you to Vardhinee for agreeing to emcee on short notice, and thank you to Krithika aunty for directing us while our master and commander, Padma aunty, was away.
We hope you have a wonderful margazhi season, and Christmas holiday season, whether you’re spending it here at home or elsewhere. Our next CCC event will be on January 12th, from 2pm-5pm at Shirdi Sai Parivar, so we hope you all can block off your calendars and attend to support the young talents we will be showcasing in our next event. We’ll see you in the new year.
Chinmai Raman (on behalf of Vardhinee Prakash) - [December CCC EmCees]
