Strategies for being a successful (string) accompanist

The popular Feature A Guru segment from CCC's Monthly events is back from March 2020. In the Feature A Guru segment of our March CCC, Violinist Smt. Sandhya Srinath spoke about the important aspects for a successful accompaniment. While insisting that a good concert is all about teamwork and mutual appreciation, Smt. Sandhya Srinath talked about the three main aspects of accompaniment that makes any concert enjoyable: Focussed listening to the vocalist, closely following the song, staying alert while responding to swarams, and adapting to the way the vocalist is singing. These three aspects together help to elevate the concert experience.
