Pointers on Concert Planning by Vid. Delhi P Sunder Rajan

Senior musician Shri Delhi P. Sunderrajan in his two-part Feature A Guru presentation talked about Concert Planning & How to Approach a Pallavi, which are beneficial topics to advanced students in Carnatic music. Shri Sunderrajan advised that a performer should practice regularly and be ready to accept a concert at any time. He further shared a few important pointers about Concert Planning and how it makes a concert interesting and enjoyable such as selecting a variety of pieces in contrasting ragas, pieces with different composers, a sense of proportion, and keeping the concert time in context. For longer concerts, he advised performers to select long kritis and to elaborate detailed kalpanaswarams, but when the concert duration is small to plan accordingly. We thank Shri Delhi P.
