===========

Namaskaram everyone,

Our September monthly CCC event was this past Sunday, just after the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi the day prior. We had the pleasure of hosting two new vocalists, two new violinists (one accompanist and one soloist), and two new mridangists, as well as several seniors and alumni who are continuing to participate in CCC despite their busy schedules.

The event started with Rajan Srinivasan’s skillful rendition of ‘Sri Raja Mathangi’, a varnam in ragam Suddha Dhanyasi, and we concluded with an intricate and complex pallavi rendered by Akshara Sridhar, in ragam Gamanashrama composed by her parama guru Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. From start to finish, we heard several expressive ragams such as Sathya Ganesan’s Panthuvarali and Prayag Barath’s Bilahari, classic compositions like Hiranmayi Gollakotta’s Thunai Purindarul and Dhrithi Balan’s Nagumomu, and some rare krithis like Nidu Charana by Saathvik Narayanan and Trilochana Mohinim by Srivats Ganesh. Every performance left us feeling stunned at the work that each CCC student puts in for their presentations to be of the highest standard.

We want to take this opportunity to thank all the gurus who put in so much effort day in and day out to train their students and encourage all the students who perform on stage at CCC. There were several events happening the day of CCC, including Pallavi Darbar where many gurus and their students had performances, but several gurus still made time to come to CCC and watch their students perform.

Additionally, a huge thanks to all the CCC volunteers who make each event possible. The audio sounded amazing thanks to Nami uncle, and the video, powerpoint, photography, social media, attendance and magazine teams are all instrumental in making the events run smoothly as well as bringing together the CCC community. We also have had an influx of youth volunteers, who are essential in continuing the legacy of this platform, and we thank them all for taking the initiative to contribute to promoting this art form.

Although Vardhinee has emceed twice in the past, this was my (Vaibhav’s) first time venturing into public speaking as a whole. Although it was nerve wracking at first, I hope to get to do it again soon and be more comfortable on stage. The theme for our fillers was Hindu festivals, where we asked the audience several trivia questions surrounding the occasions Ganesh Chathurthi, Janmashtami and Navaratri.

YSTCA’s annual fundraiser event to benefit Grateful Garments is just around the corner on September 21st at Carlton Elementary School in San Jose, from 9am to 6pm. If you are considering volunteering, donating please reach out to contact.ystca@gmail.com

Our next event will be held at San Jose High School on October 13th, from 2pm-5pm. Please join us in supporting the performers next month, and looking forward to seeing you all there!

Thanks,

Vardhinee Prakash & Vaibhav Prakash (September CCC emcees)
