Dhvani is delighted to host Vid. Charumathi Raghuraman & Vid. Anantha R. Krishnan for Dual-Workshops as part of their MAYA Tour.

A Brief Introduction to the Artists
Vid. Charumathi Raghuraman is a distinguished young violin virtuoso known for her expressive artistry and technical brilliance. She began her musical training under her mother, Smt. Rama Raghuraman, then studied with Guru Smt. T.R. Balamani in Mumbai, and later became a devoted disciple of the legendary Padma Bhushan Prof. T.N. Krishnan in 1995. She also trains in vocal music with Padma Bhushan Sri P.S. Narayanaswami. Charumathi made her concert debut alongside Prof. T.N. Krishnan in 1998 and has since performed extensively as a soloist and accompanist in prestigious venues across India and abroad.

Vid. Anantha R. Krishnan is a distinguished percussionist and the grandson and disciple of mridangam maestro Vidwan Shri Palghat R. Raghu. He began his mridangam training under his uncle, Shri R. Ramkumar, and has since continued to deepen his rhythmic mastery through advanced study with tabla legend Ustad Zakir Hussain. He has performed widely across genres and continents and currently serves on the faculty of KM Music Conservatory in Chennai.

Program Itinerary
The workshops are concurrent, so please choose one to attend.

Violin / Vocal (2 Hours) – led by Vid. Charumathi Raghuraman
An immersive session focused on learning 2 rare kritis and related manodharmam aspects

Mridangam (1.5 – 2 Hours) – led by Vid. Anantha R. Krishnan
A deep dive into the following topics:
1) Mridangam and mechanics – back to basics!
2) Sarvalaghu – the groove
3) Mridangam and microphones (how to tackle live environments)
4) Advanced repertoire
